me: What inspired you to start participating in social media?
Sandi: Years ago a friend suggested I give Twitter a try. This was before brands and celebrities knew it existed. It was on Twitter that I met my Midlife Road Trip business partner 7 years ago.
me: What is the best opportunity that you have received since you started participating in social media?
Sandi: Our brand was born of and launched on social media. That was by far the best opportunity. In the past 7 years, we have traveled around the world for work because of our presence on social media.
me: What is the biggest challenge of having a voice on social media and how do you handle it?
Sandi: I think the biggest challenge is staying relevant in the midst of all the noise. When we first started we had a much larger/louder voice because there weren’t as many people/voices. We have had a constant and consistent presence which helps combat some of the noise and enables us to still be heard.
me: Any suggestions about what tech or social trends we need to be watching?
Sandi: Video … We’ve always felt video on social would be the next big thing. We are currently in the process of collaborating on a travel and lifestyle network on Apple TV.
