Just this morning we are reading that Facebook has added structured status update feature to pages. That is a fancy way of saying your brand can now share information about how they are feeling, what they are doing, or where they are traveling.
This move enables brands to continue to make their pages to feel more personal.
This is in line with other moves that Facebook is making that discourages brands from being so promotional. Facebook says that users complain of too much hucksterism in their NewsFeed. What is hucksterism? It like a street peddler. It’s like you are hanging out on Facebook with your friends and someone walks up to pitch their upcoming webinar. Don’t do that anymore – it won’t work.
However, Facebook realizes it does not have to be all fun and games. We may soon have FB@Work – a platform for business communications and connections
Even though Facebook is dominating the news, I have been excited about what Twitter is up too. Recently Lucie wrote about many of the changes including changes to the Timeline, increase video options, and new advertising opportunities. Twitter also announced this week that you can now search through every tweet ever tweeted.
Finally here is a stat to watch. Men are signing up on Pinterest faster than women. According to Pinterest, “More men are using Pinterest in the U.S. than read Sports Illustrated and GQ combined.”
There are lots of changes happening lately. As Ferris Bueller would say: “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it.”
